Chicago police leaders say applications have increased amid national cop staffing shortage – Chicago Tribune/Yahoo

CPD has had more than 8,700 applicants this year, compared with 7,200 in 2021. And as of late November, the department has hired more than 770 officers. That figure is a sharp increase from 333 total hires in 2021 and 151 in 2020, according to police. But the rate of retirements has remained high (630 in 2022) because of “anti-police sentiments,” experts said.

There are more Chicago Cops in Punta Gorda, Florida than in Chicago. They are pouring in buying up all the Real Estate. Thanks to the taxpayers of Chicago and Illiinois.

If you haven’t noticed there have been several high profile instances of newly hired police officers engaging in some nefarious activity off duty. Scraping the bottom of the barrel has consequences. Yes, scandals are always around when there are 11 to 13 K cops but many of those scandals involved the protected class of cops who were “clout” heavy. Hiring just to fill positions and disregarding previous arrests, drug cases, domestic violence etc will have the expected results. Years ago if you applied for the cop job and received a traffic ticket you may not have been hired.

I can’t even imagine who in their right mind would want to get into law enforcement, especially in a big blue woke city like Chicago…

I commend those that think they can survive, but you will just be ground up in the cogs of wokeness & discarded…

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
