The news of Scott’s gifts came to superintendents of 16 public school districts and leaders of 32 charter schools and networks through unexpected phone calls. They didn’t even have to apply for the money. They didn’t have to prove their need. They can use it however they see fit. Chicago Public Schools received $25 million.
