"It starts with firing Police Supt. David Brown and his leadership team and ends with 'pushing resources to the district level,' restoring 'beat integrity' and using the $100 million the CTA spends each year on private security to add about 700 new officers."
Nope. Not this time. Vallas has a very good chance to win the election. He’s the only white person running. The black vote and the hispanic vote will be splintered (and the hispanic vote is no longer monolithic. Hispanic voters are wising up to the evil that is the Democrat party). If the runoff comes down to Vallas and Garcia, Vallas will win. Last time Vallas had to compete with Daley, Joyce in the first round. Besides, Vallas has been the smartest and most experienced candidate of the lot in this and the prior election.
Spot on. They won’t. In a runoff vs Vallas, they might vote for other Hispanic candidates but Garcia has a political career of massively racist statements and policies. The Hispanic vote is not monolithic and Hispanic voters don’t vote in the same numbers as black and white voters. That’s why Vallas has a realistic chance.
Tom you`re spot on with 7 black candidates if they all stay in the race no way a black candidate makes a runoff and the cities black population has shrunk by 10% to boot less of a pool of voters to pull from
I agree that Vallas has an excellent chance to make the run-off. Using 2019 election results, giving Vallas all the Joyce and McCarthy votes (pro-police) gets him from 5% to 15%. Give Vallas two-thirds of Daley’s vote share (some of those might stick w/ Lightfoot) and he’s up to 25%. If Vallas can poach a small portion of Mendoza/Chico vote, he’s close to 30%. Lightfoot and Preckwinkle each made the run-off with 16-18%. Lori is in deep trouble because the African American and progressive votes are fractured. She has a very good chance to miss the run-off. If Chuy makes… Read more »
Chuy will get the support of the unions, unfortunately I believe that will help him tremendously.

All smoke and mirrors. It is only going to get worse. There are no jobs left for the crooks but being crooks. It pays well and low risk as Chicago cops only care about collecting their pensions and moving to Punta Gorda, Florida with all the other Chicago cops.
Chicago cops assume huge personal legal risks if they do their jobs right they way they were trained and fight crime. They can be prosecuted and imprisoned for fighting crime. Only in blue cities. What a joke.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
His plan is to hire Batman and Robin and put in Commissioner Gordon and get rid of the “Joker” that’s in there now.
The idea of firing a black chief of police not a good idea. Vallas will come in 3rd or 4th. It’ll be a run-off between Chuy and a surprise candidate.

Will African Americans vote for Garcia? They didn’t in 2015.
