Rough 2022 for Illinois marijuana industry leads to higher hopes for the new year – Chicago Tribune/MSN

Attorney Scott Redman, founder of Illinois Independent Craft Growers Association, compared 2022 to wading through a bog. “Most craft growers are very disappointed about where they are; Many of us are nowhere closer (to opening) than we were a year ago. Now, with limited capital, people are scaling back, to start small and generate some revenue.”

It should be a banner year for the IL weed industry, but as usual, leave it up to the greedy, tax revenue addicted criminals in Springfield and City Hall to tax it to death. Depending on the type of product, weed products in IL dispensaries have a 28% to 40% tax on it. These idiots have found a way to kill a green goose. It won’t get any better, but it will for the black market dealer. He had a banner year. all the national pot articles I read are saying there’s a pot over supply glut, prices are dropping and the illegal pot market is booming (my kids tell me illegal pots 1/4 price of legal). And a lot of excess fed covid cash folks where blowing on pot but once that’s gone so goes the legal pot biz
