Pritzker Quickly Signs Illinois Assault Weapons Ban Into Law: ‘We Got It Done’ – WTTW (Chicago)

Pritzker, flanked by victims of gun violence, including survivors from Highland Park during the bill signing ceremony in the Capitol rotunda, said he took the unusual step of signed the measure right away so that it could take immediate effect “and we can end the sale of these weapons of war as soon as possible.” Signing the measure was Pritzker’s first official action of his second term.

This law will be a centerpiece of the Pritzker for President TV advertisements. All of IL is simply chumbolone cannon fodder for Pritzkers’ presidential aspirations. Period. It is all for a progressive virtue signal “track record” resume. He has purchased the IL Democrat party and politicians with his daddy’s money with this goal in mind.

It feels like a big distraction going nowhere, the classic red herring.

Gun owners only have one fear Gun grabbing time now is here Bought it legal at a store Paid state taxes then out the door Jacking cars and drive by shootings Never participated in any lootings Looks like now that I’m a crook Cops may be ready to throw the book Pritzger says that I’m a felon He’s got a head like a watermelon The Founders be damned we don’t care Those darn conservatives get in our hair Going to court spending tax money Such a joke but it ain’t funny Gangs and crooks will not comply Good citizens won’t… Read more »

There have been many gun-grabbers throughout history: Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein-now we add Pritzker to the list

You know dam well Pritzker and his body guards will be loaded with the Assault weapons.

How are law abiding people suppose to protect themselves? Police won’t show up for at least 15-25 minutes in most cases, by then it is all too late and tragic.

I hope so but I’m not so confident. IL has passed laws that are already in place in other states, its just that they passed all of them at once, in the most aggressive manner. I think the issue will be compliance. My guess is that fewer than 10% of gun owning residents will register their guns.

I’ve said this before, but the #1 unreported story in the media and legislature is that 2/3rd of the state’s counties are 2nd amendment sanctuary counties and will refuse to enforce the law. Legislators from these counties stood on the house floor and said that their constituents will refuse to comply with this illegal, unconstitutional and unjust law. Just how exactly do they intend on enforcing this law against Farmer Jones with his 30 round magazine? The state thinks that they if they ignore the 2nd amendment sanctuary county thing then it will just go away. But it won’t and… Read more »

For those liberals and progressives who argue that the Constitution of the United States is a living document think about this. Back in them days every farmer, rancher, hunter, explorer, woodsman, adventurer etc owned a military assault rifle, it was called a musket. As firearms developed the musket turned into modern and more efficient. Today firearm technology gives people the option to own a modern sporting rifle, the AR15 variant, that looks scary but in fact is not a military rifle. However the living document argument should apply that citizens should be able to own ” military firearms” since the… Read more »

You’ll never convince the progressive democrat using reason, or logic or rational thought. They don’t care. The intent of this law is to criminalize YOU, the law abiding gun owner. Auntie Kimmy’s voters caught with illegal guns will still go free, all charges dropped. Does anyone believe the 18 year old gangbanger caught with two 17 round clips is going to be charged with a class 3 felony? LOL, of course this law will not apply to them. But YOU, the deplorable, no no no, this law is meant to target you. This law is all about selective enforcement. This… Read more »

Keep in mind the legislators passing these laws live in their own little blue bubble. No one in their social circle is Republican, few if any in their families are Republican (and they are likely estranged from them), they have no conservative neighbors, they don’t watch or read and are completely oblivious to conservative news media. They see you as the deplorable, racist, bigoted insurrectionist deplorable who could rise up against them at any moment. So yes, of course they want to take your guns, because they see you as a threat to their power.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
