Chicago wants to make left turns safer using ‘traffic calming’ speed bumps, bollards – FOX32 (Chicago)

"Those things never stand a chance against large trucks in the city," @toombsday tweeted in January. The traffic calming is just another component of the city’s Vision Zero safety campaign, begun in 2017 with the goal of eliminating traffic fatalities in the city by 2026.

Recently visited Stillwater MN where there are guarded left turn signals that revert to flashing red. So you turn on the guarded green AND have the option to stop and turn left on the flashing red.

Works GREAT! Perhaps IL should consider that instead of the guarded left in use here.

The snowplows would enjoy a nice meal of bollards and bumps when on their assigned route. Waste of money, stupid people walking and obsessed with their phone.

Zero COVID is more realistic than zero traffic fatalities by 2026. That woman is stupid

Hmm, bollards is spelled similar to bollocks.

These bonehead barricades do nothing for safety. They block traffic, cause car damage, and end up getting torn to shit by vehicles trying to squeeze past them. Pointless.
