Legislation aims to deter book bans at public libraries by withholding state grants – Chicago Tribune*

Said Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, whose office also serves as the state librarian, “We view this as protecting our libraries. They’re under assault the likes of which they have never seen. They are being thrown into the mix of a political battle, and we’re trying to give them cover by helping them, by codifying this into legislation.”

Think about how crazy this really is. Pre-2016 no sane librarian would have allowed these books into a local library. But now, the state intends to use every power at its disposal to ensure the widest distribution of pornography. When does this all end? What is the left’s end game here?
