Pritzker, allies to DNC: We’ll cover the bill — if Chicago gets the ’24 convention – Politico

JB Pritzker’s team is hoping to lure the party to Chicago with what’s essentially a financially risk-free 2024 convention. Those organizing Chicago’s bid expect the price tag to run between $80 million and $100 million.

Chicago won’t get the DNC convention for the reason that nobody wants to be in Chicago in the late summer when violence peaks. The DNC isn’t lacking for money – they are more flush with cash than ever – so the offer of a free convention isn’t enticing. And it also makes JB look like he’s going to be the nominee and too many other people want that coveted nomination.

Hmm, at least the Dems will get to experience what they’ve wrought; deserted downtown, closed restaurants, high prices and maybe a carjacking.
