A bill to authorize a pilot wind farm in Lake Michigan just off of the south shore has resurfaced in Springfield and has picked up major political momentum, even though it could cost electric ratepayers $680 million in subsidies over the next 20 years.
Why is there never a shortage of stupid fckn ideas out of Springfield? Is it because Chicago controls the GA?

Somebody needs to take a drive down I-65 about 45 minutes south to look at how the massive wind farm there has scarred the landscape. Is that what people want Lake Michigan to look like? It would be an abomination that would take scores of years– if ever– to get rid of.
Most of those turbines are broken and in the locked position too – nobody seems to want to discuss the short, fragile lifespan of these megastructures. Oh and they dont produce that much energy either.
And not a word about what happens when they become obsolete – they can’t be recycled, so what happens to the fiberglass behemoths and all that concrete?
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
lol as close to the state border as possible.

No, they don’t want to talk about that either.
