Four Chicago men charged as police bust fencing operation after 13-month investigation – CBS2 (Chicago)

The investigation focused on the illegal sale of pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter merchandise that had been stolen from retail stores and later sold for cash profit to people who would ship them and resell them. The business they were doing was worth at least $2 million per month, police said.

Go read the story @ CWBChicago and see the bail bonds required, multiple felonies involving millions of $$ in stolen goods, drug charges etc. 1 bail bond set at $500.00 and another at $1000.00 and a 3rd no bail only electronic monitoring. Laughable at best. Serious crimes with no consequences and there’s a question about why the crime rate is skyrocketing.

I feel like society is collapsing. I’m going 80 mph on the highway – in the left lane – and cars going 110 mph are zooming and swerving past me right and left, cutting in and out of traffic. I saw one guy who looked like one of these criminals in the article, driving a big truck right out of the rural south, going easily 115 mph swerving in and out of traffic.

There’s a massive void in society and criminality is filling it.

Get out of the left lane. You are breaking the law by speeding but you decide the amount that should be exceeded. 80 mph is the right amount by your standards but more than that society is breaking down. Not surprising one bit.

The left lane is for passing not for comfort cruising.

Missing the forest for the trees, again.

When a car is going 110 mph, it doesn’t matter what lane you’re in. I’m going 80 keeping pace with traffic but other drivers – the ones NOT keeping pace with traffic – are “cutting in and out of traffic”, driving recklesslessly. The drivers going 110 mph are using all four lanes to weave between cars. Just this morning the guy driving the truck going 110 mph was using the exit lane on the right to speed and then swerved back over three lanes to the middle.

Its so rampant these days we almost never see any police cars trying to monitor it anymore. Its basically a waste of time on their part trying to corral a rampant mindset set to do otherwise as surely seems evident to all, I think. People all over this country do “their thing” in every way and every turn. Idiotic driving is but one example of it.

Why bother because in Cook/County/Chicago there is no reason to try as the ,leadership of CPD and the states attorneys office will not support the efforts. The only thing that can happen by trying to be a cop and do the cop job is complaints, accusations, investigations and headaches. Get beat down often enough and the will to do the cop job is gone.

Yes, PPF! I am so with you on that. Debtsor, shame on you! Camp in the woods not the left lane. Indiana actually enforces that rule and will ticket you for loitering in the left lane. Wisconsin and Minnesota are the worst, where they drive 2 or 3 abreast, including the left lane.

In Indiana they pull people over for camping in the left lane also known as the passing lane.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
