Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. You didn’t think that the Communists would allow a counterpoint organization onto their campus now did you?
U of C is just like the City of Chicago– a once great institution that has sunk to laughable lows. Instead of being an institution for learning and intellectual development, it is now a summer school for hard left idealogues who won’t tolerate diverging opinions or deviation from the socialist/left/woke mantra. It is a shame, because just like the City as a whole, it was a standout institution with widely recognized credentials. Now it is turning into a laughing stock and is currently an embarrassment to its great tradition.
