A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
This is a giant problem. The school districts only actually pay a portion of the cost of the Chromebooks and other IT related products for the schools. Depending on the district’s level of poverty, they can apply for Erate finding to cover up to 90% of the cost of the equipment from this federal program. This program is into the many billions of funding – each year.
