Well – So, the idea here is to send these Peacekeeper folks into domestic and crime situations to handle the criminal issues with discussion and rational conversation? Is the administration going to also send Armed Police with the “Peacekeepers”? If so, the complexity of the job presented to the Police going in with these Peacekeepers is multiplied by 10. Now, they are not only looking after one and other, but also these additional peacekeepers who believe they can some how have a rational conversation with criminals. I’d like to see an accounting of how much Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Human Services are spending on this program, and what exactly these ‘peacekeepers’ accomplish over the Memorial Day weekend.
My predictions?
Too much, and nothing.
Further, we’ll hear or read zip about them after a Memorial Day ‘holiday’ of Chicago gun violence, murder, and rampaging ‘don’t demonize them’ gangs of uncontrolled wildings

Will the “peacekeepers” be walking a beat, posted in city parks? Or do they drive around and wait for the dispatchers to send them to on a call that needs de-escalation? And who decides which calls are assigned to a peacekeeper and which go to an actual police officer?
