Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Hmm, I’m an endangered species. A native born American senior citizen who never had a government job in his life. Could I qualify for a Minority contracting job?
Just a thought but if you said you were a part of the LBTQ community you should qualify perhaps,
Here’s how it works in Chicago. First you need a corrupt city employee who puts a project out to bid. But he doesn’t really put it out to bid. He sends it to his favorite minority contractor. That minority contractor reaches out to two other minority contractors and they all bid on it. They take turns being low bidder on all the projects. The city needs three bids in order to award the contract. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Minority contracting works like this.
3 times the cost
1/2 of the work done
Zero quality
IIRC one bid went to a construction firm at O’Hare – turns out the urinals in some of ther restrooms they built were not even connected to plumbing, lol…
In Southern Illinois one wife headed firm had two workers killed when they were underground apparently without air support. One was even the owners son and my thoughts are that there are OSHA issues but why would that matter when its all about minority run business?
Look at how many elderly white women own stores at the airports and are acquaintances of Illinois politicians.
So many white male contracting firms have reincorporated with the wife the majority shareholder and the white male now the CEO and chief operating officer. This has just created more money for the lawyers and accountants…but that’s what its all about isn’t it?
Read an article recently, can’t locate it now, said minority hiring in South Africa by government and government contractors is required. But the minorities crews hired by government are unqualified cronies, so nothing gets done. The companies then hire a second crew of qualified people – on their own – to do the government work the first crew was supposed to do. Outside contractors end up paying double for every job because they hire two crews for every job. South Africa seems to be a good indication of where we are headed with a twist of latin american styled populism.… Read more »
i read something similar on substack … https://www.thepsmiths.com/p/review-south-africas-brave-new-world
you’re right, we are going that route, but heck we have chatgtp that will fix everything
Thank you for this article. One thing lightly touched on in the article but expounded upon was that crime was, for all practical purposes, legalized for politically connected groups. Especially politically motivated crimes and racially motivated crimes. We’ve seen a little bit of this in Chicago, where antifa and looters roamed the streets for an entire summer, and three years later, crime has exploded and is making formerly safe neighborhoods into undeniably scary places to live; and the top prosecutor’s office drops or downgrades charges often enough to show a racial bias. I’ve heard and seen rumors from involved in… Read more »
Here’s a good example. This guys a repeat offender and should get the sentence he got. Tell me how many other people that commit similar crimes get 3 1/2 years.

Well, that’s depressing.
I kept reading it, and reading and reading – it’s a L O N G article – hoping I would get to a small bright spot, or sliver lining, or something righteous and hopeful.
Nope. Minority Contracting is a complete and thorough mess. Worse than most understand. Promotes corruption, costs a lot, increases race-based segregation.
Burrowed in like bedbugs in old furniture though. Hard to get rid of.
