Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Lots of people have been raised by parentS (emphasis on the plural) working 2-3 jobs. The glorification of single motherhood as a „noble” pursuit, and then subsidizing it, has had predictable results.
Oh, and let’s not forget Mr. Alderman, that many of these „parents” are just as addicted to their phones and social media as their kids are. It’s Timothy Leary’s „turn on, tune in, drop out” for whole new generation.
