Chicago’s cost to care for migrants arriving since August tops $100 million – Chicago Tribune/Yahoo

Currently, almost 5,000 new arrivals are living inside city-run shelters, with 650 more waiting inside Chicago police stations for new spots to open up. That is a substantial increase from the 400 migrants who were inside police stations last week, but still down by hundreds compared with earlier last month, when alarm over their living conditions reached a fever pitch. Less than 200 of the asylum-seekers have found permanent housing, with more than 400 awaiting move-in after signing leases.

Similar to a charity where 95% of the money goes to administrative costs and 5% to the migrant. Would love to see the line items on the budget for this.

The $100 million price-tag doesn’t compute. Are we spending $10,000/month/person to supposedly house “new migrants” in decrepit temporary facilities?

Graft.

Chicago bragged about being a sanctuary city for a long time. The governor of Texas finally sent Chicago the bill.

At what point is somebody in polotics or press going to ask whats being $spent$ to house migrants vrs us citizen homeless on a $cost/per basis. Within a block of one of the new proposed migrant shelter sites in my hood you got homeless folks camped out in the woods, in bus shelters and under bridge abutments. You got several alderman starting to panic they got to do something before 24 dem convention …..it’s rapidly descending into a sh#t show

Same here, we’re at the point where its time to just let it happen… let it descend into madness and hopefully people will pull their heads out of their collective bungholes.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
