State Rep. La Shawn Ford leads rally for “Formerly Incarcerated Independence Day” – FOX32 (Chicago)

"In the words of President Reagan, let's tear down that wall," Ford said. "Let's tear down that wall of mass incarceration and that wall that's in the way of justice for all. Let's tear down that wall that's in the way of American citizens living the American dream."

Those incarcerated were incarcerated for a reason.

Another brilliant strategy from a small minded minority politician who cannot deal with the fact that members of his own ethnic group are the cause of most violent crime. The hug a thug approach is really working since the crime rate is up almost triple digits in the last 3 or 4 years. Become more lenient, stop sending criminals to prison, stop arresting for small crimes, yep, that will work.

It’s called tribal allegiance, or ethnic narcissism, defined as “where love for one’s own group overshadows all other important values.” Rep. Ford knows that his ethnic group commits nearly all the crime but that’s unimportant, because he’s got to stand up for for his people, no matter what. He’s got allies in the progressives and the white liberals who agree with him. The end result is a practically unlivable city with high crime.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
