Citing racial disparities and rising gas rates, Illinois groups call for building electrification – Energy News Network

Illinois consumer and environmental groups are arguing in filings before the state commerce commission that there is racial disparity and “environmental racism” in Peoples Gas’ record of disconnection and reconnection in Chicago, as the utility seeks approval for a record $402 million rate increase. In the rate case for Peoples Gas, they are urging the commission to pursue “restorative justice” to address these disparities.

So ComEd won’t shut you off if you have electric heat? Do these people understand how ridiculously expensive electric heat is? Gas rates can go up and so can electric rates. The Dem’s are in bed with ComEd, the last thing you want to do is not have the option to switch from electric to gas.

Apparently the bills are racist so is it safe to assume the taxes on those bills are racist too?

The real people to blame for the rate increase: Pritzker, Biden, and Democrats.

I’d say that this is a brilliant parody but unfortunately, it’s real. Every lefty catchphrase is in play to push this absurd “equity” plan — environmental racism, restorative justice, equitable transition, holistic energy. Just pay your bills on time and People’s Gas won’t disconnect your home.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
