The latest mayhem in Chicago saw hundreds of youth loot a 7-Eleven in the city’s South Loop. Fighting raged in the streets. Forty people were arrested and 37 of them were juveniles. That included:
- a 17-year-old boy charged with felony unlawful use of a machine gun, possession of a high-capacity magazine, and a curfew violation
- a 15-year-old charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon as well as disorderly conduct and possession of a laser sight
- a 16-year-old girl charged with unlawful use of a weapon and reckless conduct causing bodily harm
Mayor Johnson handled this latest event just as he’s done in the past – by justifying youth violence. He in particular challenged a reporter who called the mayhem a “mob action.” Johnson’s response:
“That’s not appropriate. We’re not talking about mob actions. We have to be careful when we use language to describe certain behavior. There’s a history in this city, and, I mean, to refer to children as like baby Al Capones is not appropriate.”
Since taking office in May, and in the months prior, Johnson has consistently defended criminal activity in the city, especially when it comes to minors. There was his “silly kids” comment after the teen violence in April and his warning to not “demonize” the youth of Chicago. That’s on top of his past comments defending looting as “an outbreak of incredible frustration and anguish” tied to “a failed racist system.”
Johnson’s excuses and the media’s use of terms like “teen takeover” and “youth gatherings” for what are violent events only serves to trivialize the real danger they pose to law-abiding citizens. Not to mention the cost that comes from the destruction of property and the looting of businesses, like what happened at the 7-Eleven last week.
Johnson’s words continue to embolden Chicago’s youth to run rampant. He’s got their backs. Unfortunately, that means the mayor is helping perpetuate the general atmosphere that encourages more black-on-black crime. He’s putting more residents at risk, including those who are innocent bystanders. Like:
- The woman killed and the toddler wounded on Wednesday along with two other people in an Auburn Gresham shooting.
- The teenage girl killed and another wounded Monday night during a shooting in Englewood.
- The infant killed in April by a crash caused by two teens joyriding in a stolen car.
So far this year, 81 out of every 100 homicide victims have been black. It’s 95 out of 100 when you include all minorities.
One positive note about Sunday’s mayhem is that the Chicago Police was proactive this time around. Action was taken.
But the question is, what happens to those arrested, especially those that possessed guns. Back on the streets already? Maybe saved by the law Pritzker just signed that encourages probation for defendants if it’s their first arrest for gun possession? And ready to participate in the next round of “teen gatherings”?

If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
Does this freshly elected moron not realize that the mob action that was being talked about did not involve organized crime outfits?
U get what u voted 4
You have the freedom & ability to leave Chiraq.
Either move out of quit whining.
With the no cash bail act can we assume that the looting will eventually expand to homes in those well to do liberal areas? Assuming so I would pay to see the faces on those liberal white Democrat voting white housewives as their homes are looted.
Priceless!
Think of all the fools who don’t vote.
What I believe the most tragic part of this bullshit is there was an older Black Gentleman working security in the area that tried to diffuse the situation and the the crowd overwhelmed him and he ended up dying of a heart attack. Haven’t heard that on the news since
That is the tragedy – when innocent people just doing their jobs are injured or die needlessly.
Mayor Johnson is not doing those kids or Chicago any favors with his tolerant attitude toward mobs and looting.
The news is no longer the news. It’s simply a puppet for what the political class wants. I see news about Chicago and Illinois all the time outside of Chicago at Gateway Pundit or other sources who report ALL news. It’s a joke when the Daily Mail becomes more reliable than Ravi Baichwal or Allison Rosati. The Chicago Media is a joke and I cannot take anything they put out as remotely serious. Thankfully we have a brain and can seek out Wirepoints which we all should appreciate for Freedom of the Press and Freedom of Speech. The two rights… Read more »
Quoting …. “So far this year, 81 out of every 100 homicide victims have been black. It’s 95 out of 100 when you include all minorities.”
And what is the race distribution of those doing the killing ?
The 95 out of 100 number is not correct either, because if you analyze the ‘white’ category it often contains many data entry errors. I looked into this last year and, for example, Little Village had a couple of homicides of hispanic men with hispanic names and they were categorized as ‘white’ as are the handful of middle eastern men who get caught up with the black or latin gangs. The number of actual white european homicides in Chicago approaches zero, other than the random polish guy killing his wife, or gay men in a tussle, or crazy mentally disabled… Read more »
Thanks to them we here the cries of needing gun control. Racist as it may sound; blacks need gun control
Remember, the rules are only enforced for certain groups. Kim Foxx is a total disaster and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were stacks of cash being delivered from Chicago’s gangs. Maybe even Evans and Preckwinkle as well. The politicians treat the criminals very well with special privileges only cold hard untraceable cash could buy. Someone is benefiting and the gangs are treated like royalty. Plan your exit strategy before it’s too late.
Excellent.
Here’s what should happen to looters

Love how the owners are fighting back with defiance, anger and resolve. We all should support business owners 100%. Great video.
Even more telling that the person filming is trying to talk the shopkeeper out of doing anything. “ It ain’t worth it! Wait for the police! You got insurance!” Yeah, wait for the police to show up when dirtbag has already sold most of the smokes for his drug money. Wait for an insurance check at their leisure after which they jack up their premiums if they don’t outright drop you. Love the public’s attitude towards things that they stand to lose nothing on, and kudos to the merchants for doing what more people fed up with crime are going… Read more »
Knowing what I do of convenience stores, I suspect that the two ‘merchants’ in the clip were actually the men who owned that business, and who pay franchise fees to 7-11 for the benefits of that branding. They also lease or pay a mortgage on that building, work there, buy all the products that stock, and services that supply, that store with their own money (and no better than 14 day credit terms), and then care for their families and pay their own wages with whatever’s left over. Other members of their families likely pooled money to make the initial… Read more »

IT’S LOOTING SEASON: Crain’s Slams Johnson — After He Gaslights Chicago Over The Latest Round Of Crime-Thug Mob Wilding Looting, Rioting, And Violence – Crain’s Chicago Business
When teenagers are carrying those types of weapons they have given up their rights as juveniles. They are now adults. Adults can be shot and killed especially if using those weapons while committing a crime. A lot more law abiding citizens are CC and probably have some range time. Communist mayor wants a full blown race war with stupid comments like that. Tells you whose side he is on. Maybe he is hiding that BD, GD, or P-Stones tattoo? Whoops, typo, he is a West side guy so VL, 4CH. West side gangsters are particularly violent with their dominance of… Read more »
This is a bizarre concept, maybe participating in “teen takeover” (wilding) with a zillion cell phone, security, press cameras recording every second is your chance to hope you get treated by CPD in any minor way that could be construed as “systemic racism” and $cash-in$ with big lawsuits against CPD to go along w all the other $100s of millions in discrimination lawsuits agaist CPD? Where’s Crump?
Well. After another year of this sort of thinking from BJ, plus JP’s SafeT Act and ‘first time offense’ get-out-of-jail-free card for gun crimes, I imagine Chicago will be in fine shape for the ’24 Dem convention.
More new age doublespeak from BLM Root Causes Comrade Johnson. A mob is not a mob, unruly ferals tearing everything up are not criminals and telling the truth about these uncaged animals is demonizing. That fact that he pandered to the likes of Angela Davis should’ve opened a few eyes. Then again, the cradle to grave welfare crowd is getting exactly what it wants. People used to care about the crime and weekend shootings and now they are more inclined to say h—l with it. But please, let’s hear it from the cheerleaders of Illinois and the media about how… Read more »
We’d need a police state if this kind of thing keeps growing, and nobody wants to live in a police state, especially law-abiding and freedom loving people. Occasionally the far far right actually come to agreement with the far far left, RFK and his opposition to the proxy war in Ukraine and forced vaccinations is an example. I’m not to the point of agreeing with BJ here, but the last thing I want is to be forced into a police state to control this. Especially if the federal govt decides to be our police instead of local police. If that… Read more »
I like old man Daley’s rule. (and it worked!)

Well, as the saying goes, “When someone tells you who they are the first time, believe them.” Brandon Johnson was the only candidate besides, Lori Lightfoot, who sympathized with the perpetrators of crime in our city. It is utterly disgusting to hear the mayor of Chicago take a stronger enabling stance on crime than Lightfoot. But here we have it…Brandon Johnson is causing more harm to the citizens of Chicago, and the reputation our city, that any other politician in our history. It is truly shocking. However, the people of Chicago voted for this man, and now the citizens are… Read more »
Very few people voted for Johnson. Voter turnout was extremely low, because political thugs have managed to convince people that Chicago is hopelessly corrupt, their votes don’t matter and that anyone against them is a small minority. Claiming that the people of Chicago voted for this man is only partially true and I can guarantee you that the majority of citizens do not want this guy.
You can’t guarantee that. No polling, no inquiries, just pure speculation. He got enough votes to win, no matter the participation rate. And now Chicago deserves what it gets for its apathy. Mr.Optimist is now Mr. Pessimist.
You can’t guarantee that he won fair and square either.
Nobody deserves to have their community destroyed. People are waking up every day. I’d never wish hardship on someone for making a mistake.
I CAN guarantee he won fair and square. Have you heard of anyone challenging the election results? No. Was there election fraud? Haven’t seen any evidence of that either. Did everyone eligible to vote do so? Doesn’t matter how many did and didn’t vote. Each Chicagoan made a decision in early April, and the collective of those decisions have consequences. Just because you don’t feel it was fair and square doesn’t mean it wasn’t. I don’t agree the right candidate was elected, but Chicago made its choice. If you didn’t vote, you can suffer in your frustration for not doing… Read more »
Here’s the best poll that the dishonest Tribune could come up with.
“Three-quarters of the people who voted for Johnson view him positively, according to our poll. But they’re not the majority: Most Chicago adults either didn’t vote in the April runoff election or voted for Paul Vallas. Include them, and the total expressing a positive opinion plunges to 35%, with 25% holding a negative view. The plurality — 38% — are neutral or have no opinion.”

This poll means nothing; the vote count did. Suffer on, Chicago.
“ They got the votes. We won the election.” Hugo Chavez
I find it interesting that many communities where the most number of people just don’t seem to give a crap, seem to have high voter turnout every election. It’s amazing that the can read, 80% of the men have criminal records, 2/3rd don’t have car insurance or valid driver’s licenses, chronic truancy is rampant, trauma is everywhere, there are shooting every day… …but by golly, the community members show up in droves on election day, with all their voter registration info up to date, to support the Democrat party in numbers equal to or greater than the northwest and southwest… Read more »
Blind-Faith.
My precinct polling was in a housing project. On any given day I rarely saw more than a couple people around on the sidewalk. On election days it’s a zoo, 50 to 100 people in the lobby, on the sidewalks, in the parking lot. I’m starting to think something ain’t kosher in this city. Now I vote in Palm Beach County.
The election was almost entirely along racial and socio-economic lines and had low but very proportional turnout. It would have made no difference if turnout was higher because the voters would have voted in the exact same ways along racial and economic lines. The only way that would have changed is if, basically, more white people showed up than black people and voted Vallas. But if more white people showed up, it’s just as likely more black people would have showed up to vote Johnson. It was a weird election, not like one group outperfomed the other.
The majority of people who voted, voted for Brandon Johnson. Sad truth is the lousy voter-turnout contributed to Johnson’s election. But the sheer disinterest of majority of voting-age Chicagoans is root cause for his election.
All the parasite union members voted early. On voting day there was violent thunderstorms and even a tornado in west burbs. Traffic was gridlocked and most taxpayers just said f-it and went straight home. If we all could vote from our phones this clown would be sweeping floors at CTU’s fat cow barn.
FORGOT TO SAY……OLE MAN DALY WOULD NEVER HAVE PUT UP WITH THIS……HE HAD CLASS AND LOVED HIS CITY!!
He accelerated the cancer known as patronage and corruption. That is not class. That is the antithesis of class.
Ole man Daley supported the “merit” system of police promotions. The result has been decades of morons in the upper ranks of CPD. Daley and Daley jr. were terrible leaders.
So, there is the polar opposite choice for promoting people, one that the vast majority here likely despise: promote from within based on seniority. You’ll likely be hung in effigy at the very least if you like that idea.
Al Capone was leader of armed gang of lawbreakers. These wilding thieving teens are also armed gangs of lawbreakers. Mayor Johnson, where’s the difference?
People are being robbed, beaten, and shot on daily basis. Dozens of victims, daily occurrence.
It least in Capone’s era, gang members mostly targeted rival gang members. Here, now, it seems otherwise law-abiding Chicagoans chance becoming a crime statistic if outside after 9 pm anywhere in Chicago, including downtown and frequented tourist areas.
I REMEMBER WHEN ILL AND CHICAGO WERE WONDERFUL……….GLAD I’M GONE!!!!!!!!
Citizens need to fight back by capping these “kids”. The trouble is that these baby mamas keep cranking out more of them faster than their own criminal culture can kill them off.
Johnson is just a bigger version of the total loser than Lori Lightfoot is.
They spread like wild locusts, treat them like locusts, spray with water to disperse and
Sweep into dustpan
Johnson is on the last train to Palookaville
If 40 people were arrested, some with guns and machine guns, in these days of Kim Foxx and bail reform, what would you call it besides a mob?
Of course they are not baby Al Capones. Al Capone had class; these youths are just thugs
Brandon revealing his lack of intelligence. The term “mob action” does not refer to the activities of the Italian crime families, such as Capone. No Brandon, mob action refers to a group of individuals that gather to commit illegal activities, like this group of young thugs did in South Loop. He sounds like a complete idiot.
Hmmm…. Sounds like he is…
Okay, final word: he is an idiot!
The Chicago Teachers Union is running things now. No wonder no intelligence is seen….
Looters should be shot. Period.
