Sounds like city streets.
Only problem I’ve ever seen that can be solved with major tax increases.
Thought those sewer cap restrictors, installed by Streets & San Dept, restrict rain flow into street sewers, which worsened chances of rainwater draining into bassements of residential homes. Furthermore, Chicago officials knew doing so would increase likelihood of basement flooding. Historically, old-timer homeowners in Chicago screwed 4′ vertical-length of plumbing-pipe into basement floor sewer-drains, intending to exceed elevation of street outside, to prevent gravity backflow from street sewer system. Worked for us. Since Chicago has combined sewer (sanitary + sewer water) backflow into basements usually results in free-floating toilet sewage in your basement space. Whenever I read about Chicago it always needs more money.
When I was a kid, it was Ozone and acid rain. The Ozone hole is getting smaller. Acid rain is down 68%. Oprah, Obama, Zuckerberg, Bezos, and others are fighting over ocean front property and disregarding rising sea levels, so think what you want.
Read this article earlier this morning when I was flipping through the Journal.
Journal should change the headline to, “Illinois Blames Expensive Engineering Investment’s Poor Results On Climate Change”.
As, of course, one would expect Illinois to do. You can’t dispute ‘climate change.’
Probably won’t even be able to talk about ‘climate change’ in Illinois in a couple of weeks.
Not without calling one of the 1st Amendment law firms WP posted, to defend you from something-or-other the Dem’s have done to identify stuff we’re not allowed to say.
