Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

Follow the money. Trib and Wirepoints should identify and investigate the company-owners, and their political contacts, of these high-cost furtively-awarded “migrant aid” contracts.
It wouldn’t matter one bit if Mayor Johnson’s extended family got 95% of the contracts. No one would care. Democrats can do no wrong in the eyes of their voters. They’ll overlook the most blatant corruption, cronyism, graft and outright theft, as long as it is Democrats doing it. Because they associate Republicans with bad, bad things. Government always figures out a way to profit off a “Crisis”.
