Northwestern near bottom and University of Chicago near top in new ranking of school tolerance for free speech – Wirepoints Quickpoint

FIRE, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression is among the wonderful, new organizations dedicated to protecting free speech and free thought. This week it released its annual, comprehensive rankings of 248 colleges and universities for student free speech and open inquiry.

Northwestern University is near the bottom, ranking 242 on the list of 248. University of Chicago was near the top at number 13.

However, the University of Chicago did slip, falling from last year’s number 1 spot. That’s the subject of a new Chicago Thinker column. FIRE’s director of polling and analytics told the Thinker “there is a singular reason” for UChicago’s fall: the school’s controversial refusal to give registered student organization status to the campus chapter of Turning Point USA.

Other Illinois schools that were ranked:

Details for every school are included in FIRE’s report.

Harvard University was dead last among the 248 schools and Michigan Technological Institute was no. 1.

Northwestern, along with Yale, Brown and Harvard, have trashed and tarnished their reputations. They cannot be recovered.

University of Illinois – Chicago called me for a donation. Told them no, what you’re doing to professor Kilborn was terrible, girl was clueless as to what was going on. Surprised they rank above average.

This is probably now a target list for the lib machine who want to further erode free speech on college campuses. 😢

NU is at least near the top if you figure in tuition costs….

NU is an embarrassment for its alumni — including me. Last time they called me for money I told them I wouldn’t be giving a f**king dime to a school that supported

— BLM rioters

— Hamas terrorists

— cop haters

while censoring anyone who disagreed

Figures that a engineering school was number 1 in free speech – no snowflakes there.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
