Never let uncommitted tax money go to waste. So they build another physical embodiment of progressive agenda. Who benefits? Only the contractors award its contract awards.

Money is not object when it is not yours.
Governments first job is to create jobs, benefits, and overly generous pensions for adults. The service provided (if it is even done) is last on the list.

Who is counting students? Duh. What matters is easy jobs for CTU members. Rignt now the entire city of chicago is a host for the parasitic vermin of CTU. The real workers and taxpayers are being sucked dry by these grifters. Their mayor got elected. Everyone else can just bend over and take it.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
