How was it possible that nation of good and decent people turned to Nazism as Germany did? The number of hardcores who actually lit fire to the synagogues was rather small. The problem was those who stood by and watched. If there is any blessing to have come out of the tragedy in Israel, it’s that so many of those in America would would do the same — light the fires or just watch — have made their names known. Remember their names. “Never forget” is an obligation for all of us, everywhere, in every age.
