Illinois Rep. Delia Ramirez among just 10 House members voting against resolution condemning Hamas attacks on Israel – Wirepoints Quickpoint

A U.S. House resolution affirming American support for Israel and condemning Hamas passed with bipartisan support on Wednesday. The vote was 412-10 with six members voting present.

Rep. Delia Ramirez

Illinois Rep. Delia Ramirez was among the 10 members voting against the resolution.

Voting with Ramirez, the opposition included six of the eight “Squad” members: Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY., Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., Summer Lee, D-Pa., and Cori Bush, D-Mo. Joining them were Ramirez and Reps. André Carson, D-Ind., Al Green, D-Texas and Thomas Massie, R-Kentucky. The remaining two “Squad” members, Reps. Greg Casar, D-Texas, and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., voted present.

Ramirez did issue her own statement saying ,“I unequivocally condemn Hamas’ horrifying terrorist attack on Israel: the worst perpetration of violence inflicted on the Jewish people since the Holocaust.” Her full statement is here.

However, earlier this month Ramirez helped Squad members lead a different, failed resolution urging the Biden Administration to call for an “immediate deescalation and cease-fire in Israel and occupied Palestine” and to send humanitarian aid to Gaza.

We won’t let Delia’s complete stupidity get in the way of the IDF’s complete and total destruction of Hamas and Hezbollah. I hope the IDF does their job with extreme prejudice and makes sure to kill every last one of them. No quarter whatsoever. I want to see the smoldering ruins of the Gaza Strip be turned into rubble. I support 100% the lone democracy in the middle east and I support their rights for security of their homeland. We are all seeing first hand what they have in store for us. I am for destroying them first. I guess… Read more »

How would she feel if, instead of Israelis, it was Hispanics that were the target of a terrorist group? And, as a mission statement of the terrorists, a goal was to eliminate all Hispanics? Unacceptable, right Rep. Ramirez?

She is just another of a long line of Illinois pols who are unfit to represent anyone.

From a gerrymandered district wandering through a thin and twisted course from Humboldt Park in Chicago to far western DuPage, she is a clueless Dem. vote on all issues.

The behavior of these idiots is pouring fuel on the fire of all the college demonstrations against Israel that are occurring in campuses around the country. If we want eliminate the stupidity associated with anti-Semite behaviors—get rid of college professors who, for years, have been indoctrinating our youth. The trickle down effect is staggering. I’m a former school teacher who attended IUPUI (Indiana University) and still remember the Sociology professor handing out applications for students to join “The Young Socialist Alliance.”

Yeah – She’s offensive. A product of higher learning. Apparently believes you can somehow, reason with illiterate religious nuts. There is nothing logical about Hamas. Hamas is a terror group – period. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see their brutality and commitment to erase Israel and the Jewish people. Hamas owns everything happening there.

Gee, are we ever gonna get Dem pols that want to defeat our enemies? Think Harry Truman .

If Ramirez was a bit sharper she’d know that there was a ceasefire in place on October 6th — the day before Hamas slaughtered 1400 Israeli civilians.

Yes Squad members. General MacArthur was right. There is no substitute for victory.

Let’s add that the Palestinians in Gaza have enjoyed self-rule since the 1985 Oslo Accords. So who is the oppressor? What major profit centers or industries were destroyed by Israeli rockets? Oh wait, none of course because Gaza is totally dependent on the generosity of other countries for over 35 years.

Well that’s good to know. She just solidified the fact that she’s extremely uneducated. In her classroom when she was in grade school or high school and they were discussing the holocaust, she must have been counting crayons and coloring pictures. Shame on the imbicils who voted for her and the rest of the squad. They must have a death wish.

Delia was also one of the very few Congresspeople and only Illinois congressperson to reject H.Con.Res. 57 which stated: (1) the State of Israel is not a racist or apartheid state; (2) Congress rejects all forms of antisemitism and xenophobia; and (3) the United States will always be a staunch partner and supporter of Israel. She simply cannot acknowledge Israel and the Jewish people’s right to be there. Her arguments are sophomoric, which is not surprising given her degree is from NEIU in justice studies. I can only imagine what a layup that degree was and the 3rd-rate professor activists… Read more »

Last time I checked, this is not our war. Who are we to be so virtuous to decide who should condemn one side or the other? Neither side wins in this millenia old war?

If you can’t stand up and condemn terrorists that rape women, murder babies, and take hostages then you are already lost. There is a time to stay neutral but this is not one of those times. If you can’t condemn Hamas and those that support them you are one pathetic individual. For me, I’m thankful for all the people that pick a side. We then know who supports Israel’s right to exists vs those that support the rape and murder of innocent civilians.

One man’s freedom fighter is another man’s terrorist. It seems like many countries around the world support Palestine and not Israel. That being said, Hamas clearly broke the rules of engagement that have existed for centuries by targeting civilians, and any assertion that unarmed ravers dancing in the desert were enemy combatants is wrong and immoral. On the flip side, Israel’s response has been harsh and swift, and the bodies of dead children being pulled out of the rubble is very difficult to justify. There’s been estimated 5,000 dead and it’s complete choas in the Gaza strip. But unfortunately, there… Read more »

Agreed. Hamas is fully responsible and unable to justify using their own innocent civilians as shields in an attempt to gain sympathy. They own all of this.

You say that the chain of events begins with Hamas on October 7th. Hamas says that Israel occupied their land and all settlers are occupiers. I tend to look further back than that: Deuteronomy 20:16-18 Destruction of the Canaanites 16 “You are not to leave even one person alive in the cities of these nations that the Lord your God is about to give you as an inheritance. 17 You must completely destroy the Hittites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, just as the Lord your God commanded you, 18 so they won’t teach you to do all… Read more »

What’s funny is that Delia (and people like her) will be the first to criticize Republicans and separate herself from “those Americans” but for some reason she’s cast her entire lot with the terrorists.

Hamas has completely embarrassed and shamed all the pro-Palestinian folks to a point where they are justifying murder. Hamas totally backed them into a moral corner and instead of trying to escape, they’ve barricaded themselves in. It’s like the gambler who keeps doubling down on a losing hand. These people are completely broken.

Remember when Obama Admin sent the pallats of cash to Iran? Who exactly was he helping fund? Hamas. US is directly responsible for funding all of this chaos in the Middle East.

I would rather spend our tax $$ here getting rid of the rapists, murders and baby killers. The south side of Chicago is a fantastic start.

Ms Ramirez wants to grow her political career via AOC model of leftist woke advocacy. So she votes to endorse blatant terrorist attack of Israeli citizens in their homes and at rave by Iranian-trained Hamas militia members. Ok, Rep. Ramirez should clarify her position on terrorism, which she apparently believes is justifiable if consistent with “woke” politics. What if Hamas (or Hezbollah) commits terrorist attacks in US? Will she still support Hamas because it’s “woke” to do so? These are stupid people, acting in accordance with innate prejudice. Perhaps Rep. Ramirez supports Hamas because she equates Hamas with Puerto Rico’s… Read more »

It’s important to understand that our enemies see *everything* in terms of race, even if their allies do not. Virulent racists like Delia will *always* side with the non-white actor in a dispute. *Always*. Even though her ally, Hamas, sees things in terms of religion i.e. they want to impose an Islamic state upon Israel and the entire world! Hamas calls people like Delia USEFUL IDIOTS

Questions for Delia. Do you believe in
Abortion rights? Hamas does not.
Gay marriage? Hamas executes them.
Executing homosexuals? Hamas does.
LGBTQ rights? Hamas does not.
Equal rights for women? Hamas does not.
Transphobes? Hamas does not.
In only one religion? Islam? Hamas executes infidels
How can you support Hamas when they go against all your liberal progressive ideals?

Because she was lying. She sees her constituency as all of Latin America, and could care less about the tax payers of her district. Remember, this district was drawn for her, she was endorsed by the Democrat Party leaders. She ‘won’ 66% of the primary votes and 69% of the general election votes. MUH DEMOCRACY

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
