Ironically, quite recently, the Israels had banned guns by requiring difficult to get permits, and limited the number of rounds of ammo a citizen could possess. Hamas took advantage of this and slaughtered defenseless villagers by the hundreds because few had the means to defend themselves. Less than 2% of Isrealis (outside of police and security) had legal gun permits. And because of that, that got slaughtered.
