Brandon Johnson wasn’t supposed to take campaign money from city contractors, but he did – Chicago Sun-Times

Then-Mayor Rahm Emanuel issued an executive order in 2011 barring any mayor from taking campaign money from city contractors, and it remains in effect unless a mayor changes or rescinds it. Mayor Lori Lightfoot left it alone, as has Johnson. Christian Perry, Johnson’s political director, says taking the money was an “oversight” and that it’s being returned — roughly 30 contributions totaling about $46,500.

Mayor BJ and Gates must be very nervous watching what’s happening to Mayor “Turkey” Adams in NYC. That “campaign finance irregularities” investigation seems politically motivated to not only shut-up Adams, but also shut him down altogether.

Biden Administration may want to clean house in Chicago too, in advance of Democratic Convention next summer. BJ has become a stinking hot mess for national party Democrats in short order.

The Biden administration has been the most ruthless and fascist administration in my lifetime. The administration exists entirely to punish enemies and reward allies. And apparently, now that they feel that their enemies have been sufficiently mopped up, they’ve moving on to punishing non-compliant allies. It’s scary times we live in. I’d rather believe that Mayor Adams is a really corrupt mayor and this investigation has nothing to do with Biden’s DOJ targeting his enemies, but the timing, and their past behavior, leaves me with serious doubts.

I truly can’t believe your mindset even your first sentence, debtsor! Substitute the word Trump for Biden, and you’ve said it more accurately if Trump is re-elected. There’s an article in today’s “Chicago Tribune” devoted to exactly that assertion. What’s amiss with the wiring in your head? There is a short circuit in that mire.

Evidence collected on Mayor Adams is definitive.

Remind us who Trump targeted; list would be useful.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
