Evanston Ald. Devon Reid: Let noncitizens vote – Evanston Now

Evanston’s Rules Committee is scheduled to consider a proposal from Reid to let noncitizens vote in municipal elections. A handful of politically progressive communities in a few states have adopted similar laws recently, but courts have ruled such provision unconstitutional in San Francisco and New York. Illinois's state legislature has considered, but so far not acted on, legislation introduced this year that would permit non-citizens with children in public schools to vote in school board elections.

I don’t think that anyone who comes here illegally should EVER get the right to vote, that goes for the migrants and dreamers as well. Yell and scream all you want but cheating shouldn’t be rewarded.

These people are out to destroy this country. Why would allowing non-citizens of this country vote for its leadership make any logical sense? When does that EVER make any sense?

Only 89 to 94% of Evanston residents voted for Joe Biden. To the communist, that’s not enough. They want 100%. Just like Toni Preckwinkle made it clear this past election she was upset there was 1 Republican on the County Board of 17, she needed him to BE GONE. She focused this past election cycle with the sole focus of removing that Republican. She was unsuccessful. Now I understand that non-citizens can’t vote in federal elections, but they would be allowed to vote in local election, and their Democrat voting patterns are the same in Evanston. They want Evanston to… Read more »

Another step in the plan to destroy America. First, let them in. Second, let them vote.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
