Chicago’s migrant crisis spirals out of control: City spent nearly $1 million on failed camp before pulling the plug – as officials now impound buses bringing migrants to the city – Daily Mail

There are currently more than 13,000 migrants staying in Chicago's shelter system and the city has spent more than $250 million handing the crisis this year. It's not much when compared to the $4 billion spent by New York City's government. The mayors of Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles and New York have been pressing for more federal aid to deal with the surge in asylum seekers.

$250M divided by 13K is $19,230.76 per person or $76,923.04 for a family of 4 to live in a shelter/sidewalk/tents or tent cities. Here is some info on average income of a working family of 4 in Illinois. Illinois

  • Annual living wage for a family of four: $79,899

Someone is making a boatload of money off these jumpers. The living wage family pays rent or a mortgage/auto payments/food/clothing/education/pay taxes and maybe a few $$$ for a vacation and more taxes. These jumpers do not pay one cent in taxes while the working stiff gets stiffed.
