CTU, American Federation of Teachers ask for federal help for migrant student needs – WGNTV (Chicago)

It’s estimated that 20 percent of the 30,000 migrant arrivals are children and thousands are enrolled in Chicago Public Schools across the city. The head of CTU insisted it’s possible to address the needs of all communities including Chicago’s newest arrivals. The President of the American Federation of Teachers said, “others may want to use this for political purposes…but we are about humanity…lifting up children”

You mean to pay for tickets to repatriate (get them the heck back to their point of origin) them? Food and shelter until they are processed and returned. Enough already.

Look at the medical costs in Denver for jumpers.

As a comparison how many of our parents and grandparents and their parents came over from Europe and immediately looked for medical care/food stamps/welfare and handouts from the government? Maybe only a few but most went to work and built this country with quality workmanship.

CPS should create a new type of magnet school for students that only speak a given foreign language. then do a total immersion into English language literacy.

Hilarious that the article keeps referring to the heads of the AFT and the CTU without ever naming them. Maybe because they know that nobody believes Randi Weingarten and Stacy Davis Gates when they trot out the “it’s about uplifting the children” line?

The main name left out of the article when referring to teachers union bosses is Beelzebub. You have to be not just rotten to do what these teacher union bosses do to kids, but evil.

They should take it out of their pension fund to assist financially. Better yet, they should solicit the million dollar retired pensioners here in Illinois to donate to this cause.

But you can be sure CTU is not for using all the mountains of empty or fractionally used CPS school space to shelter “new arrival” migrants.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
