Illinois’ Kwame Raoul Among Democratic Attorneys General Supporting Censorship – Reason

Dem AGs conspire against free speech online | Illustration: Lex Villena The authors proclaim their devotion to "democratic processes." Yet democracy and free speech rest on the same premise: that the people, not elite overseers, are able to sort out truth from falsehood and to determine for themselves what's in their own best interests. If you don't believe that, you don't believe in either free speech or democracy.

Fantastic: “Yet democracy and free speech rest on the same premise: that the people, not elite overseers, are able to sort out truth from falsehood and to determine for themselves what’s in their own best interests.” So many recent stories in the left-wing media regarding gov attempts to regulate media, the demise of “news” or “news deserts”, states(Illinois) proposing to fund non-profit news (similar to ST/ WBEZ model) to the “elites” that want to tell you what the “TRUTH” is because the underlying message from these folks is that your to stupid to know what the TRUTH is. They are… Read more »

I thought this was very revealing NPR podcast from a couple weeks ago regarding non-profit ST/ WBEZ elites on a mission to tell their TRUTH. They just need the Illinois dem machine/ Washington (dopey taxpayer/voter) to fund it. The Jennifer Kho (ST editor) is scary:

I guess the progressive buzz phase is “mission driven journalism” for what’s being practiced/preached at a ST/ WBEZ and so many other temples of truth. Tons of articles on definition, means & methods on how to operate in a clickbait ocean

And the wealthy became more wealthy during pandemic. Many of the elite also back certain candidates to finance an agenda which they think helps the world but in fact it enriches then even more. We found out how well Teslas work in cold weather! Even with their vast wealth they cannot make laws or enact them so they need politicians to do their bidding.

The most important point to take away from this is that the elites hate you. They actually hate you, and your beliefs, and they hate to share the same unvaccinated air as you. They live in elite closed bubbles where they have little contact with the real world and they hate the people that inhabit the rungs below them. You’re a peasant and they’ll treat you as much; and some of the peasants have more use than others (migrants more useful than deplorables). The sooner people understand how strong the hate is, and yes, it is hate, disgust, contempt, and… Read more »

The elites hiring illegals need to go to jail. That’s a start.

If the government defines truth, you will believe that quarantining healthy people and six foot social distancing are truths, and not allowing your child access to pornography is censorship.

Looks good! I’m working on a similar project that takes a systems analysis approach to censorship, amplification and other more sophisticated gambits. Amplification of select messaging is just as dangerous as censorship! Does he address interactive, motivational, and predictive elements of human behavior that big tech leverages? How about legal capture?

Is there commentary on class action suits in there? I don’t know much about the law, but class action suits seem like one of the few options left. I’d like to read about class action strategy.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
