Some worry Illinois spending priorities under pressure by ongoing migrant care – Center Square

The current budget includes $550 million for the health care subsidies for non-citizens in Illinois over the age of 42, but the projected annual cost from the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services is $832.7 million. The Pritzker administration announced a freeze of new enrollees last year to help shore up those costs. Those costs are on top of around half-a-billion dollars in housing, food and other costs the state’s taxpayers have already incurred.

Don’t understand how anyone can look at this situation and think it makes sense. $550M dollars on illegal immigrants…it is out of control. This needs to stop and now. Some how these crooks find 1/2 a billion dollars for this stupidity, but can’t find a dime for real issues facing citizens. Please vote these people out of office, it is unsustainable.

This is completely insane the amount of money the state is paying to take care of a small number of migrants. A billion dollars fills a lot of potholes, buys a lot of new playground equipment, builds a lot of community centers, provides a lot of tax credits.

We are living in a nightmare no Night Terror environment. If any of us were in a coma for the last few years woke up and realized what was going on we would demand to go back into a coma or ask for euthanasia.
