Well at least an above ground mausoleum saves some space. How many corpses will fit into this building?
Of all the designs that could have been selected for the Obama Fielty Center, they chose an eyesore. It will uglify Jackson Park in ways that would make Burnham vomit. However, any criticism of the OFC or its amateur architect’s crayon work will be deemed racist by the clerics of the OFC.
That building looks like it belongs in the center of Mecca.

I have only five problems with this debacle. First– it is a hideous eyesore. Does anyone other than the architect think this building looks good? NIPSCO might because it looks like one of their cooling towers). Second– there will be no economic development. That was never a realistic concept and this article exposes that whopper of a fib. Third– this is not a presidential library, despite the proponents’ efforts to spin it as a “center” and on par with other presidential libraries. I think I missed my calling, I should have been an architect. I can draw squares. Agreed, this is just a monument to egos. I am sure it will be filled with social propaganda, lies about the accomplishments and be available for the rich and famous to rent for events. But my goodness…a billion dollars…what a waste.
