State Rep. Kam Buckner: If Chicago doesn’t get federal help for its housing crisis, it should pass on hosting the DNC – Chicago Tribune*

"The Constitution grants the federal government exclusive power to regulate immigration. The federal government also must deal with housing insecurity in America. These are federal issues...As Democrats prepare to showcase our big, broad, diverse coalition to the world, in this big, broad, diverse city, there is an opportunity to deliver on the promises that are embedded in our platforms. Federal resources need to begin to flow immediately, and the convention should be the impetus to do that."

Truth.

If Feds, via Biden administration, don’t send enormous “migrant aid” check to Chicago, and experienced city managers to oversee convention week, then Dems should expect a shit-show during convention.

This administration is unable to cope with current crime rates, current migration crisis, and current blatantly-obvious inexperience and mismanagement. Mayor BJ’s repeated panic attacks suggest he’s ill-equipped to serve as mayor even during relatively calm times – wait till the anarchists and ANTIFA arrive to riot in the streets and overwhelm Chicago. Mayhem.

I think, and I sincerely hope you’re wrong, but you might very well be right. The 1968 protests were most hippies protesting the war, among other things, they understandably didn’t want to get shipped off to fight another Democrat war in Vietnam. The Palestine protestors are obnoxious but its looking like there’s going to be a cease fire soon anyways. There was justice for George Floyd. There would need to be some other astroturfed social cause between now and August to bring out the crowds. Maybe they can convince them to protest Trump’s likely presidency at the DNC? Maybe they’ll… Read more »

Let’s not forget that the Dem’s here are in bed with the gang members. For the most part the gang bangers will get some favors and lay off during the convention and then afterwards it’ll be business as usual.

All of the problems Mr. Buckner is railing against were created within the State’s borders by Illinois residents and politicians. Don’t go looking to your Federal Daddy to solve your problems, be a man and solve them yourself. If you are unable to solve a problem in your district, then resign because you’re obviously not the man for the job.

The Federal government has no obligation to deal with housing. Never has, never should. But here’s the rub: liberals will use the “unhoused” illegal alien issue to try to create another entitlement program (FREEBIES!!!) as a solution.

Each day, as we witness the behavior of “leaders” it become easier to believe in conspiracy theories… Or, alternatively, why don’t these liberal/prog/Dems just tell us what the end game will resemble…

Is it really just power and greed?

If the Biden Administration won’t enforce the border, Chicago should pass on hosting the DNC. Just a thought.

A breach of contract suit in which DNC seeks recovery from an insolvent city would be a lawyer’s dream which even the left-wing media might have to cover. The litigation firms might end up insolvent or blow-through their pro-bono budgets, but I expect that Wirepoints would need hardware and software upgrades and additional staff to handle the traffic.

What we’ll be needing $ for at Wirepoints is PTSD treatment, needed from reading as much news as we do. We are living in a nuthouse.

This seems to be the consensus but I don’t think this will happen, Joe Biden didn’t bring out the crowds in 2020 and he’s sure as heck not going to bring out the crowds in 2024

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
