Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. I disagree with what was said on the Fox News piece. Sandra said she “grew up nearby” and said DuPage County was “deep blue”. I don’t know about now but it wasn’t all that long ago the DuPage County was a deep red, Republican county and Naperville was a bastion of conservative residents. What happened? I guess they left, like many other right-of-center residents have left Illinois.
In 2012, Dupage county was almost split down the middle between Romney and Obama with D’s having the slight advantage. In 2014, Dupage county Republicans had greater than a 5 point victory when looking at the Senate race of Durbin vs. Oberweis. The 2016 Presidential election ushered in a dramatic shift. Dupage county rejected Trump by almost 15 points although Mark Kirk lost by less than 4 points. Apparently those suburban women of Dupage didn’t want to be grabbed by the pu$$y. Since 2016 Dupage county continues to reject the Republican Party.
Typical NIMBY response to the problem. Virtue signaling has a price. Prop the front door of your mansion open and let them come! I’m still waiting for Jumbo Belly to open his Gold Coast home to illegals.
NIMBY best describes the positions of democrats/liberals
