For Pritzker, the DNC could be a dress rehearsal for a presidential run – Crain’s*

Pritzker understands how to serve as the happy warrior for Biden even as theories about his political ambitions persist, according to U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Evanston. “That’s something that J.B. will manage well,” said Schakowsky, who once competed with Pritzker for her House seat. “He knows what it is to be a surrogate. He has no intention of trying to outstrip the president of the United States.”

The thought of JB trying to “outstrip” Biden is frightening. Thanks for putting that idea in my head Jan.

Pritzker’s own family , Hyatt hotels and the Marmon Group, would not hire him. Why should we? As previously noted, his recent accomplishments include an increase in pot sales and gambling revenues. Illinois population continues to decline. Public pension deficit continues to grow. What a guy! The bigger picture is in 1950 Illinois had 27 representatives in the US House. Now we have 17. A major Democrat achievement and Pritzker has done nothing to improve our national standing.

If he becomes President – which should never happen – I am moving to the Dominican Republic. Friends moved there 2 years ago and I have visited regularly with no worries.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
