Column: Appellate judges impatient with enhanced SAFE-T Act workload – Champaign News-Gazette

Jim Dey: "Since the law took effect Sept. 18, Illinois’ five appellate courts have been overwhelmed with nearly 1,700 appeals requiring prompt review. As a consequence, the Illinois Supreme Court in January charged a special five-member committee with studying the problem and devising solutions...In the interim, however, three appellate justices from the state’s Second District have devised a partial solution to reduce the flow. They’ve told defense lawyers representing detained defendants to stop filing frivolous appeals."

Another example of politicians passing laws that they have no clue about. Just make it easier for the so called less privileged minorities to get out of jail free for a multitude of crimes so they can be out and commit more crimes. Read CWBCHICAGO.com and see the everyday stories about crime and the effects of catch and release are having on society. It will make you sick to see what a mockery the so called justice system is in Illinois..

I told you, unintended consequences throughout the rest of the state. No Appellate Court judge wants to be the guy who releases a hardened criminal back onto the street to commit more crimes over some technicality in the SAFE-T Act. They’ve mostly been upholding the law so far, and now that they are telling defense lawyers to stop filing ‘frivolous’ appeals, this policy of upholding detentions is getting put into place. Maybe judges can ignore the Illinois Supreme Court like dimwit biden does to rulings of the US Supreme Court

The IL supreme court will most certainly make examples, and remove, judges who refuse to get with the progressive agenda. Liberalism is authoritarianism.
