In 2022, Springfield received $3 million dollars from the federal government, with well over 100 projects confirmed that would require lead paint removal. Springfield has relied on big city contractors from Chicago and St. Louis because no one locally is certified to work with hazardous lead paint.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
