Chicago Teachers Union pushing school model where kids perform poorly – Illinois Policy

The "sustainable community schools" model integrates additional student services coordinated by the school with outside organizations, such as housing or food assistance, medical or dental care, mental health services, English language or parenting classes. The district already has 20 sustainable community schools - 12 elementary schools and eight high schools - but most of them have lower proficiency and higher absenteeism rates than the district at large.

They have been preaching oppression and holy victimhood for years. It turns out that children who are taught they are victims (and little else) grow up to be less than ideal parents. So now the purveyors of oppression want to insert themselves in every aspect of a child’s life. What could go wrong?

The Socialists of CTU aim to have all students be equally stupid. That’s their goal. Bust this terrorist organization now. School vouchers for all.

Indeed, equally stupid. And beholden to the CTU for everything from their breakfast to their dental care. My ! What could go wrong ?

I love the downvote from the trolls of CTU. They are a cancer upon society and need radiation treatment.

Now -10 downvotes. These CTU scum vermin don’t like dissenting opinions (because they are too deeply stupid to think beyond their nose). Sad to think that they are “Teachers”. I respected my teachers and appreciate their professional role in my life. These CTU primordial ooze deserve all the respect of a urinal mint. If IL were a nation in stead of a state their dissent would be dealt with differently and in a more permanently final manner.

Tom, the good news is that the downvotes mean the left is at least reading our stuff. There has indeed been an uptick of progressives reading here from what we can tell. I count that as a step in the right direction because so many of them have been so close minded, never even looking at alternative viewpoints.

You are spot on. They live in an echo chamber.I try and listen to CNN and MSNBC from time to time to see what bias and falsehoods they are spewing and always come away astounded by the fiction. Welcome to the truth CTU!!

I suspect they are not legitimate downvotes, but rather, dirty tricksters, which is what the IL Democrat Party is known for.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
