Took 59 days in 2024 for Chicago to achieve one day of “no shootings”. But headline should be revised to note “no REPORTED shootings”. There’s reason to assume a fair number of shootings are not officially reported, because CPD wasn’t on scene, and/or didn’t file CPD crime report thereafter to document event. Plenty of Chicago crime episodes aren’t reported, and/or don’t get CPD crime report documentation. Many street-crimes aren’t formally documented. Can’t wait for the “ crime is down “ crowd to toot their horns over this one.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
