The city that purrs: Getting to know Chicago’s feral cats – WBEZ (Chicago)

Jack the feral cat calls Agustin and Belinda Fuentes’ backyard his home base. He spends a lot of time under the deck. The Chicago area has one of the most progressive feral cat policies in the nation. That’s in large part because Cook County is one of just a handful of large metropolitan counties in the U.S. where Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is legal and residents can be come recognized caretakers of feral cat colonies.

Millions of dollars for illegals and feral cats, but not enough for homeless veterans with mental health issues. Sounds pretty progressive to me.

Leave it to Chicago to have the nation’s most progressive feral cat policies. I have nothing against cats helping to control the notorious rodent problem that plagues Chicago. WBEZ had to be sure to trumpet this effort as progressive.
