Does the documentary give the names of the real estate firms, the bankers and the property owners of some of the worst tenement slum housing in Douglass Park or Near West Side? Because that would be far more enlightening than another white people bad fluff piece. Our grandparents knew who the real enemy was and that’s who they were really getting away from.

Completely ignored in this article, and probably the documentary, is that YOUR RACIST ANCESTORS weren’t as much racist as they were ANTI-CRIME, as they for the most part accepted assimilated immigrants of all races. The purpose of documentaries like this to shame you, whitey, for the ‘sins’ of your ancestors who built Chicago, and because of their sins, you no longer own this city, whitey. In retrospect, what happened to these neighborhoods with the mass migration from the south is similar to what is happening today with Latin America migrating in the United States. Their showing up in neighborhoods with no means, into communities ill-equiped financially and emotionally to handle the massive social problems, and social disruptions caused by the mass migration, with not enough housing or resources to go around for everyone, and then violence breaks out and people move.
