Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The Trib should join the Times and the dodo
Bird. These two former rags were ok in the 60’s and 70’s but I would not give them a
Penny to save the communist rags.
The Trib is full of ‘knuckleheads’. The IVF decision was logical. If you believe life begins at conception, then destroying embryos is the death of a human being. This has been the position of the Christianity for 2,000 years in various forms. The Trib just wants to kill babies anyway they can, like the degenerate hucksters they are.
That’s not the Trib. It’s a guest op by a GOP pollster. Personally, I agree with him. And as a political matter, it would be certain, national suicide for the GOP if they didn’t strongly support IVF.
Republicans don’t need to play into Democrats playbook by responding to every little thing that happens around the country. The AL legislature just passed an IVF immunity law abrogating this ruling anyways. And IVF is a non-issue in 49 states right now. Republicans can safely ignore Democrat harpie screeching and talk about other things. This is not the issue Republicans need to play off their back foot. The fact that the Trib ‘allowed’ a Republican operative to op-ed about IVF is again, Democrats trying to control the narrative. Literally no one in the Republican world is talking about this at… Read more »
The “DO YOU SUPPORT IVF??” question is no different than the repeated Democrat question “DO YOU CONDEMN WHITE SUPREMACY?” Every interview with every Republican for by the liberal rags for four whole years was “DO YOU CONDEMN WHITE SUPREMACY?”
IVF is really a non-issue, can be safely ignored and mocked for even asking the question, and it’s probably out of the minds of 95% of voters right now. They only reason we are still talking about it is because Democrats want you to talk about it. Don’t let them do that.
Your original comment on this sure seems to contradict that.
But that was the point of the column. If you don’t think Dems and their friends in the press are trying nevertheless to make an issue out of it, you aren’t paying attention.
Of course they’re trying to make an issue of it. “DO YOU CONDEMN CHARLOTTESVILLE AND WHITE SUPREMACY?” was a question every two seconds during Trumps tenure too. Republicans aren’t playing that game any more. and the Trib putting an op-ed to defend IVF from somebody from ‘Cor Strategies’ whatever that is, playing into the Democrat game. Here’s an article from September 2020 about White Supremacy https://www.npr.org/2020/09/30/918483794/from-debate-stage-trump-declines-to-denounce-white-supremacy From Debate Stage, Trump Declines To Denounce White Supremacy President Trump’s hesitation, once again, to denounce white supremacy during Tuesday’s presidential debate is drawing quick condemnation from anti-racism activists — as are his unusual… Read more »
I like that you posted this article, I like that you post all articles, and my beef isn’t with you for posting it! But rather the Democrats, who get some nobody to make IVF like it’s a thing, when the IVF issue is the biggest astroturfed nothingburger I’ve seen in politics since Charlottesville. We can’t keep responding to Democrats demands to ‘denouce this!’ or ‘support that!’ because they control the narrative. And if NPR, in bad faith, wants to report, REPUBLICANS ARE AGAINST IVF! when there’s no evidence we are, then let them. Democrats live in a world of fantasy,… Read more »
