Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Retrain those staff to work in the iPass contact center to sell iPass, answer questions from customers and deal with billing issues. If they don’t want to do that, fill pot holes…but collecting tolls is over.

There’s a glut of employee’s they should have been looking for jobs as they sat on their a… for the last 4 years!
Cut all there jobs duplicates upon duplicate jobs all tollways are automated. Since all toll booths are automated another fleecing of Illinois taxpayers

Would be cheaper to disband Tollway Authority, convert tollways to freeways. Tolls mostly pay for duplicate highway services and payroll/pension costs.
The article is unclear; are all 147 workers tollbooth operators? If so, why are they needed when every toll booth (at least that I’ve passed through) is automated Are these office workers? Doing what?
