Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. He cites deaths from crashes but the city had far more murders and violent crime. If Foxx and Tim Evans can’t bother to do their jobs why do we need to slow down?
No one stops for stop signs? Not where I live. Everyone stops for stop signs where I live. Imagine living in a community where nearly every resident is an uninsured dirtbag recklessly drives a jalopy, disregarding every traffic law, causing accidents right and left. People wonder why insurance rates are going up.
