What the article fails to mention from county officials as always is the taxes not collected from an abandoned property is made up by increasing the tax rate due to Ptell. As long as there is a value and a tax bill attached to the property everyone else in the county/city pats a higher tax rate. The city does not lose any money other than maintenance costs like mowing.
