Twelve Illinois Congressmen vote against bill to give federal custody to non-citizen defendants charged or convicted with assaulting cops – Wirepoints Quickpoint

The U.S. House passed a bill Wednesday to require that defendants charged or convicted with assaulting a policeman or other first responder be turned over to the federal Homeland Security Department.  It’s in response to certain incidents where local prosecutors are thought to have been too lenient with non-citizens assaulting cops.

It passed 265 to 148, with 54 Democrats and all Republicans voting in favor.

However, 12 Illinois Democrats voted against the bill. They are Reps Casten, Davis, Foster, Garcia, Jackson, Kelly, Krishnamoorthi, Quigley, Ramirez, Schakowsky, Schneider and Underwood. All other members of the Illinois delegation in both parties voted in favor. Their full roll call is below.

Specifically, the bill, HR 7343, requires the Department of Homeland Security to take custody of any non-U.S. national (alien under federal law) who meets certain inadmissibility criteria and is arrested for, is charged with, is convicted of, or admits to assaulting a law enforcement officer, firefighter or other first responder.

Most definitely a ‘dirty dozen’. If they had conscience they would be ashamed of themselves. Rather they choose to be puppets of Leftist extremists.

Don’t blame the politicians as they are only representing the will of the people that elected them.

Absolutely despise having him as a “representative”. He surely has never represented any of my positions on matters.

I live in southwestern suburban Cook county and he is my representative. I doubt he knows where my town is located, or cares about what happens here. JB ‘s “fair” congressional maps! My state representative is a Chicago Democrat and I can say the same thing about him.

Republicans left first, then Democrats moved in. Most of those Republicans are now deceased or living in other places. That’s how Wheaton turned blue. The old white Republican guard moved or died, and then the forever democrat voting Foreign Born moved in and turned in blue. Naperville is nearly 1/4 foreign born. Just think about that.

If Illinois wants to keep its criminal illegals in Illinois, I have no problem with that. I hope Homeland Security will abide by their wishes. As for us (in Tennessee), I hope Homeland Security assigns us as many agents as possible.

One more reason for the “shortage” of cops. More precisely, why nobody wants to be the police anymore.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
