Kim Foxx wouldn’t prosecute gun cases tied to some minor traffic stops under new plan – Chicago Sun-Times

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, dressed in a blue suit jacket, at the microphone during a luncheon. Some of Foxx's staff raised alarms about its implications. “People are in disbelief,” said one prosecutor, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “This is unthinkable.” Foxx said her office’s current caseload related to traffic stops was “not significant in numbers,” but the source said more than 70 percent of gun cases are in some way connected to such stops.

St Louis had a similar situation with a prosecutor named Kim Gardner that was elected last go around. An investigation was held by the State Attorney General who instituted a lawsuit to remove Gardner from office for not prosecuting violent crime. . Subsequently Gardner resigned but in this case Illinois is not Missouri and Kwame Raoul is not the Missouri prosecutor. Things can be so much different in other States and Illinois is Illinois; is there any hope anymore? Take a gander on how things work in other States. https://ago.mo.gov/attorney-general-bailey-releases-kim-gardner-report/

If Foxx tried to implement this 6 months ago, then Burke and Harris would’ve been forced to address this during their campaigns for CCSOA. Imagine Foxx-clone Harris having to explain his way out of this. Imagine the attack ads against him. We certainly wouldn’t have had to wait weeks to declare a winner.

Instead, Foxx kept her toxic plan under wraps until after the election. An unethical play to the core. No moral compass.

Why stop for the police. Was on N Michigan Ave when police tried to pull a car over. The car sped off and when they couldn’t block him in they just let him go.

Saw that Rick Bayless bailed on Chicago and is locating his new restaurant in Skokie. I wonder why? Brandon, Kim, Toni, Tim, anybody? Would appreciate your insights.

I think this a great idea. It nullifies FOID card laws. FOID cards are BS and none our our neighboring midwest states have them. Good to see that Kim Foxx is in favor of gun rights and the second amendment. Whoa wait, are you telling me that Kim Foxx is going to do this ONLY for minorities and people of color?

I guess all the gun bans and FOID card requirements are now lifted??? Once again law abiding citizens are persecuted while the Wild West continues only in Illinois

The city is too violent the police must do so something about it. The police respond and try to do something. The elected states attorney says we are not going to prosecute these people and violent criminals run loose. The voter says I will vote for democrats again. Makes sense to me.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
