Property values in more than a dozen neighborhoods west of downtown Chicago have increased by an average of 27 percent. The total assessed value in the west Chicago area has surged to approximately $10 billion, up from about $8 billion the previous year.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
