A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
So much for a library being a place to read for education or entertainment. It is now a social services center for the enabled that use the facilities to clean up or sleep, when their not being disruptive or, as happened in Joliet, burning the place down.
Gosh, I remember when the public library was a temple of silence like a church in the off hours when services weren’t being conducted and an old biddy would shush you if you were too loud. Old Joe even paid an occasional library fine for an overdue book.
Now they double as a homeless shelter, cooling shelter, warming shelter, opioid treatment center, and mental health counseling center. My 1st girlfriend majored in library science in the 80’s back in Michigan. I don’t remember that she signed onto all this wokery nonsense. I need another Lite beer.
